Searching & selecting

If you do not find what you are looking for, CONTACT US DIRECTLY!
THE BEST SEARCH ENGINE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR OUR SKILLED STAFF.

The search page provides a simple and effective way of exploring the EDIFICE picture library database.
Enter the keyword(s) describing what you are looking for in the first of the boxes under ‘search criteria
& press ‘submit’. The search results will appear below. If there are a lot of records that match, there will
be multiple pages of results through which you can move backwards and forwards.

You can refine the search by using the ‘and/or/not’ buttons and putting additional words in the second
and third search criteria boxes and pressing ‘submit’ again. Note that the search will find any caption
with a word starting with the word you enter – so ‘gate’ will return records with ‘gatehouse’ as well as
‘gate’ (to exclude records with ‘gatehouse’ add ‘not gatehouse’).

Currently, all the slide captions in the EDIFICE database are searchable. We are in the process of
scanning the images for the Web. When an image has been scanned, you will see a thumbnail of it in
the search results.

For each slide or caption in the search results which matches your needs, click on the little box on the
right-hand side to select that record.

The your selection page shows what records you have currently selected. You can make multiple
searches and add new choices to your selection. If you change your mind about a particular selection,
uncheck the relevant little box on the right-hand side of the selection page.

When you have finished searching and selecting, click on the ‘e-mail’ box on the selection page, follow
the instructions, and we will e-mail you back medium-res. images of your choices.
